Staying Deadly

We walk alongside Mob aged 15 years and over to provide supported and specialised mental health services.

The Staying Deadly Hub is a place for Mob to feel safe and to belong. We will support you to look after your mental health in your way. We can meet you wherever you’re at.

The Staying Deadly team is Community.

Our team of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander care coordinators and wellbeing workers come from Community. Some have cared for Mob with mental health and/or drug and alcohol concerns; some have walked this journey themselves.

The Staying Deadly Hub team also includes clinical professionals including, mental health clinicians, psychiatrists, and doctors.

The first step in any journey is to have a yarn.

The Staying Deadly Hub is a safe and supportive place, where your story will be respected. You won’t be judged; we are here to listen.

Our team at the Staying Deadly Hub can support you with:

  • dealing with stress, anxiety and/or depression
  • building strong relationships
  • managing challenging issues
  • cultural and psychological wellbeing
  • support for your family while you work through your challenges.

Our deadly team will walk alongside you to access services which support your mental health and wellbeing now, and as your needs and goals change, including:

  • outreach support – we can meet you at a location that suits you
  • one on one mental health care planning and support
  • group programs to support your cultural, social and emotional and overall wellbeing
  • a safe place to be yourself and to be surrounded by Mob
  • a place to go, to have a cuppa, a laugh, and a yarn.

Sometimes it’s hard to know what to do when you see a friend or family member struggling with their mental health.  But there are some simple things you can do to support them.

  • Be there – spend time with them and let them know you care and support them.
  • Ask questions about what they’re going through and give them space to yarn openly about their feelings without judgement.
  • Let them know that speaking to someone they feel comfortable with may help them feel better.
  • Provide suggestions for support – call Mob Link to connect them with their local Aboriginal Medical Service or send them a link to our website.
  • Connect with Community – organise activities with family or friends and spend time on Country.

If you need support throughout this journey, feel free to reach out to the Staying Deadly Hub to yarn it over.
