Post-Op - GP information

Post-Op provides rehabilitation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have had surgery in the past 12 months, or a due to have surgery. The service aims to support the safe recovery after surgery while decreasing complications and concerns.

The team can provide equipment and a rehabilitation program at home, or in the community, tailored for individuals to build strength, endurance and overall wellbeing after surgery.

Post-Op supports surgeries including:

  • joint replacement
  • joint reconstruction
  • arthroscopy
  • fixation or fusion
  • gastric bypass
  • removal (tumour, cancer, prostate, uterus, breast, gallbladder, colon, kidney, appendix)
  • heart and/or circulation related operations.

Depending on the surgery,  Post-Op can connect you with a range of professionals to support recovery including:

  • adult speech pathologists
  • diabetes educators
  • dietitians
  • exercise physiologists
  • occupational therapists
  • podiatrists
  • pharmacists
  • physiotherapists.

Locations

Post-Op services the South East Queensland region.

Who to refer

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, 18 years and over who have had surgery in the past 12 months, or a due to have surgery.
