Legal Services

Many individuals and families who access the IUIH System of Care present with complex needs and high degrees of social risk and vulnerability. IUIH understands the important link between legal matters and health, and that early, intensive and integrated legal education, prevention, and support is not readily accessible to many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, especially those who experience social and financial hardship.

IUIH’s Legal Service is an initiative under IUIH’s Health Justice Partnership initiative, working with vulnerable individuals and families facing difficulties with legal issues.

The IUIH Legal Service provides high-quality, timely legal advice for individuals and families internally referred through Moreton ATSICHS Family Wellbeing Service or by general practitioners and allied health workers. It also provides services to clients associated with the Birthing in Our Communities program and the Australian Family Partnership Program.
