For Our Mob: IUIH Launches 2026 Flu Campaign

Various Community members gathered together after having their flu shot or mist at one of our local health services.

As flu season approaches, the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) is launching our annual flu vaccination campaign to help keep our families and community strong and well.

From mid-March, clients can receive their flu vaccination at participating IUIH clinics – and pick up a small thankyou gift to take home. This year’s incentives include a reusable tote bag, water bottle, socks, and for kids, crayons and bubbles to make clinic visits friendly and fun.

“Flu can hit our community hard, especially Elders, jarjum, and people with chronic conditions,” said IUIH’s Public Health Manager, Rochelle Robinson.

“Getting your flu shot is one of the simplest ways to protect yourself and the people you love.”

Flu vaccinations are recommended for everyone aged six months and older and is especially important for:

  • Elders and older adults
  • Young children (jarjum)
  • Pregnant people
  • People with chronic health conditions
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and community members

For children aged 2-5 years, FluMist (a needle-free nasal spray option) is also available at participating clinics.

This can help make the visit easier for little ones who may be nervous about needles. Yarn with your clinic team to see if FluMist is suitable for your child.

How to book

  • Call your local clinic – find it at iuih.org.au/clinics.
  • Walk‑ins: Some clinics may offer walk‑ins – please check with your clinic first.

Please bring your Medicare card and any concession details.

Incentives available at participating clinics while stocks last.
