Disability Allied Health Therapies

IUIH delivers Indigenous allied health therapies and capacity-building supports to help you achieve your goals and live independently.

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) is here to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from birth to 65 years old in South East Queensland with the NDIS application process. We have two pathways to help—Aboriginal Disability Liaison Officers (ADLO) and Early Childhood Approach Access Officers (ECA Access Officers)—dedicated to assisting our community members with disabilities.

Our ADLOs and ECA Access Officers work locally to ensure the NDIS positively impacts individuals with disabilities and their communities. For children aged 0-9 with developmental delays or disabilities, and their families, IUIH partners with the Benevolent Society to deliver the Early Childhood Approach.

This approach helps families and carers of children under 6 with developmental concerns or under 9 with disabilities get the right support when they need it. Our team of coordinators works closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to navigate early support for children with developmental delays or disabilities. We strive to make NDIS supports, including early connections, eligibility, and funded supports, culturally appropriate and aligned with our community’s needs.
