Child and Family Services

IUIH’s child and maternal health programs aim to improve birth outcomes, closing the gap by reducing rates of preterm birth weight and improving early infant health and well-being.

Maternal and child health specialists provide support to mums and families through all member clinics as well as through freestanding services located at Capalaba, Woodridge and IUIH’s successful Birthing in Our Community (BiOC) Program.

Services for IUIH’s youngest clients start in pregnancy and continue through to their early years and into the school-aged population. For each Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child to reach their potential we must support the mum to birth her baby at term, following good antenatal care based on the latest evidence, and addressing social and economic issues so she is free from stress and hardship where possible.
