Improving and Integrating Urban Indigenous Health Services

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists work on the body and how it moves and can support pain, injury, balance issues and more.

Your physiotherapist will work with you to find the right exercises to suit your body and lifestyle to support movement, manage pain and improve your overall health.

  • muscle, tendon and ligament injuries
  • sporting injuries
  • rehabilitation before and after surgery
  • chronic pain
  • neurological conditions caused by stroke, brain and/or spinal cord injuries
  • continence issues like controlling your bowel and bladder
  • women’s health (particularly throughout pregnancy)
  • men’s health
  • balance and falls
  • exercises to strengthen your body
  • breathing problems
  • support with getting around your home and community.

At your first appointment, the physiotherapist will yarn with you about your injury and how we can support your recovery.  They will assess your movement and strength to develop a treatment plan just for you.

A session might include:

  • creating an exercise program
  • tips to manage health conditions
  • muscle and joint movement
  • breathing exercises
  • bladder training and pelvic floor exercises
  • assistance with mobility aids
  • referral into other services with the clinic such as Exercise Physiology for Work it Out or hydrotherapy.

If you have had your 715 health check, you can request a referral from your doctor to see a physiotherapist.

Or you can yarn with your doctor or nurse at one of our clinics.
